The Phillipines have had some notable pioneers in physics and other disciplines. However, unlike their counterparts in Europe and North America, Filipino physicists, have not received comparable recognition. One of the outstanding Filipino Physicists is Dr Caesar Saloma who received the 2008 ASEAN Outstanding Scientist and Technologist Award in recognition of his outstanding research and achievements in photonics and signal processing. Dr. Saloma currently has a US patent for his invention. Another outstanding Filipino Physicist is Josefino Comisio, who discovered a recurring area of open water in the sea ice while studying global warming at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in the USA. Like anwhere else, Filipinos can boast of their exceptional achievements and contribution to the world and in particular, to the field of physics.
Famous Filipino physicists and thier contributions are listed. Although not all the following were strictly physicists, their contributions are in areas closely related to physics and are included in this list of famous Filipino physicists.
