Short Story Plot Ideas
The same plots that would be used for a novel would be used for a short story, it's only the types of settings that would change, and the length of the story. Good plots are plots surrounding romance, murder, tragedy or joy. Because you want the story to be fairly short, you don't want to go into very deep character or setting details. The best short stories start out with simply a pen to the paper, an open mind, and thoughts flowing through to your fingertips.
