Density of Steel

Density of steel. Steel density varies on the grade of steel that's been determined at the moment. There are about two grades of steel Martensitic and Austensitic. Martensitic steel has lower density than the Austensitic steel. For a mild steel, the density is said to be 7.88 or 0.286 pounds per cubic inch. So in general a steels density can average from 7.75 for a martensitic steel and over 8.02 for austensitic steel. You can find more information at www.wikianswers.com
