Duty Rates Canada

Canada collects both customs and excise duties on imports and exports. While the custom duty is applied to the import or export based on the type of goods and the tarrif rates, the excise duty is applicable to certain products such as tobacco and alcohol. The Canada Border Services Agency's website http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/sme-pme/i-guide-eng.html provides guidelines on imports and exports as well as the duty rates for them. It is very important to make sure that the goods can be imported or exported. Once this has been established, you should find out the 10-digit classification in the Customs Tarrif as this is what determines the rate of duty to be paid as well as how the goods were imported or exported. The website provides links that will help with the calculation.
