Empathic Listening

Empathetic listening helps build trust in you from the person that is speaking. Acknowledging what the speaker is saying is important and shows you are listening by repeating back to the person what you think the person just said. If there is tension empathetic listening may reduce the tension because the person will feel heard and understood. If you are not a good listener you can become a better listener. Good listeners are more likely to succeed so it is a good skill to practice. Make sure not to interrupt and stay present in the conversation do not mentally drift. Be careful with your body language if you start yawning or no eye contact this can make the speaker feel as if they are not being listened to.
