Framing a Porch Roof

When planning on framing a porch roof, be sure to check the condition of the porch supports and footings. Most porch roofs use a shed roof with a slight slope attached to a ledger screwed or bolted to the house. Metal joist hangers provide a strong, durable roof. Some deck roofs use lattice to run vines or other plants. Roofs may be finished with many different materials. For great do-it-yourself plans, check out http://www.doityourself.com.
