First, your soon-to-be-employer should give you ample amount of time to situate yourself and make sure that you definitely want the position offered. Ask about pay rate, of course! Make sure the pay is what you need to make ends meet and that it's competitive in the job market. Ask about the opportunity to advance within the company if that is something you would like to work towards. Ask about vacation and sick leave to make sure you properly plan out your year. If you will be starting or extending your family in the near future, make sure you are aware of maternity and/or family leave. Benefits and health insurance are definitely important and something you should be informed about before accepting a job offer. You also want to know your schedule and whether or not it will change often or if your hours are set. These questions should leave you prepared to make a sound decision on whether or not you want the job.
