We came across some true compressor surge while pe - StreetFire ... What causes surge like this? ... A b.o.v is the best method of preventing compessor surge.Compressor surge is the sudden reversal of airflow through your turbine. This usually happens when your throttle plate snaps shut closing off the path for the boosted air.

The Causes Of Compressor Surge? Forced Induction ... ok ok I know a few ways compressor surge is caused but I need some clarifying on some others.... Here are a couple ways I know it can be caused.. Bad vaccum source to BOV; Too much preload on the BOV adjustment screw; ... Re: The Causes Of Compressor Surge? (R6E6I6D)

It is known that the operation of a centrifugal compressor can become unstable due to changes in various operating conditions such as flow rate or pressure. This causes rapid pulsations in flow which is called surge.
|

|
In addition, rapid variations in the pressure rise across a compressor are monitored, as they also can be used to detect a surge event. Such pressure variations may be attributed to a number of causes such as, for example, unstable combustion, rotating stall, and surge events on the compressor itself.

NASA Glenn 2002 R&T report article ... Compressor surge is a condition affecting both aerospace and industrial compression systems that employ turbomachinery. Surge is an unstable operating condition that can lead to the loss of an aircraft in aerospace applications and cause severe damage to industrial systems.

Compressor surge when your throttle is closed basically in small terms causes pressurized air to bump into the closed throttle plate, which then causes this pressure wave to flow back to the turbo; this in turn, "stalls" the turbo;

In combination, the inventive improvements in flow measurement and operating line management afford added compressor surge protection across the operating range, while permitting the attainment of elevated pressure ratios associated with high thermodynamic efficiency and output.
