If you have been wondering what the numbers on the bottom of a check mean, ask no more. The numbers to the extreme left are known as your routing number. This is a nine digit number and gives the information that identifies the specific institution you bank with. The next set of numbers are your account number. This number tells what account the transaction is taking place in. There are another set of numbers following the account number and those are the check number that you are using. You need to make sure that you do not include these numbers as part of the account number.
