Since the worldwide web connected humanity, an overwhelming number advantages of the internet have surfaced. Prior to the internet, if someone wanted to know about a famous person, place or thing, they needed to buy books, magazines, or make a trip to the library. If a child was struck by a fever in the middle of the night, a parent needed to wake up a sleepy physician to find out what to do. The internet puts this crucial information at a worried parent's fingertips. Until the existence of the internet, if a soldier was stationed on the other side of the world, the only way they had to stay in touch with family and friends were letters that slowly crept across the globe via snail mail. Now married couples can even communicate face-to-face on their computers. Yes, the internet does have its disadvantages. But the good that it has generated tips the scales.
