Car Hesitation during Acceleration
Car hesitation during accelarion may mean cleaning the fuel filter, checking the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator to make sure they are all functioning properly. Also, the car might be ready for a major tune up, which includes changing the spark plugs, coil housing, etc.

I've been having some significant -- but intermittent -- hesitation during initial acceleration. The car kinda rolls along until you hit 20 or so, then it jumps up to full power and everything is fine. It usually idles fine, but sometimes will idle low, or die when stopping.

I have a 98 explorer,V6,125,000 miles,automatic tranny. I notice while cruising at highway speeds (50-70), the vehicle will begin to hesitate/sputter ... > Car Reviews ... Every couple of months a Z car owner somewhere cries out "Help, my car is suffering from hesitation/stumble: what could be wrong?" . These types of problems can be a pain to track down, ... The problem I had was with my 1990 NA, which had mysteriously developed a deep hesitation whenever the car moved off from rest.
