Crunching Sound When I Turn My Head

If you are experiencing a crunching sound when you turn your head, it can either be a neck problem or something actually inside of your head (as in sinuses). Pay attention to when you hear the sound. If you move your head and neck in any direction and feel popping in your neck and crunching sounds in your head, it may be the ligaments and tendons in your neck. Typically, your neck will pop and crack as air shifts around and muscles cause tendons to shift in and out of place. This doesn't need to cause you concern unless you are experiencing pain and tension in your neck. If it does not seem to be in your neck, you may be experiencing either an ear infection or sinus infection. Fluid can accumulate in your ear and cause all sorts of strange noises. Driving up and down a mountain or flying in a plane (where the air pressure constantly changes will cause pain and popping in your ears, especially if there is infection present. If it is a sinus infection, likely your face will feel tender to the touch especially on your forehead and cheeks. Paying attention to where the pain and sound comes from will tell you a lot about what the cause might be.
