Executor Estate Duties

The executor of an estate is the person that is named in the will to carry out and makes sure that the wishes if the deceased are followed. It may be your duty to collect all unpaid salaries, file for Social Security, appear in probate court, inventory belongings and send out death certificates to utility companies, banks and credit accounts. If you were very close with the deceased, it may also be required that you make the funeral arrangements. This can be a very difficult time, but the executor of the estate is an important job that cannot be put on hold for grieving. If you do not feel that you can perform all of the duties listed here, you can decline the job by filing a paper with the probate court.
