From my understanding they are not a wise choice. Someone told me that they are just a house-brand for BEST BUY. God knows who really makes them. I'd avoid "insignia" like the plague! river.

I did that before checking the files sections for IR files. All I got were Best Buy and Insignia. That was what I already knew. Who makes it? I hate to just return to the question I asked, but there it is.

Otherwise, I’d be prepared to shell out just a little more for a better brand—until someday, inevitably, Best Buy contracts an Insignia product with a really gung-ho manufacturer who makes a surprisingly high-quality product that becomes the darling of the bargain electronics community. ... I was at the local best buy store last week, and I saw two televisions on sale. One was a Toshiba 24", the other was one of their Insignia housbrands, no reviews on *this* one anywheres, a true "pig in a poke"! ... Apparently each tv company makes their tubes in a certain way, each brand is different.
