Bullying Statistics

Bullying statistics shock parents everyday when they find out how common it is for kids to be targeted by their peers. It's surprising to see that 30% of all youths in the U.S. are estimated to either be a bully or be the target of bullying, or in some cases both. That comes out to a shocking 5. 7 million kids. U.S. students in grades 6-10 recorded answers in a nationwide survey recently. Out of those students, 13% said they were bullies, 11% said they were victimized by bullies and 6% said they fell into both categories. Both males and females commonly bully other kids and make fun of the way they look or dress. One common difference however is that males will bully both boys and girls, sometimes sexually harassing the girls. Girls however, commonly only bully other girls and often do so out of jealousy. Bullying is a symptom of a deeper problem however since most bullies do poorly in school and get in trouble more often than their peers. This makes things more difficult for the bully which makes them unhappy and they repeat the cycle to take out their aggression on others. Bullies typically have trouble later in life.
