All citations for my papers should be in the form of footnotes (where the note literally appears at the foot of the page) or endnotes (located at the end of the paper if you prefer to do that or you can't get your software to turn out footnotes at the bottom of the page).

The way to avoid plagiarism is by using citations or footnotes (or endnotes). Citations and footnotes (or endnotes) often frighten novice writers. There is no reason to be frightened. Memorizing all the rules for citations and footnoting would be a major chore, but you do not have to do that.

It seems there a few excuses not to cite properly any more. Plagiarists beware. Some even capture web page citations on the fly! I can't believe I did this the hard way (tracking down references after the paper was written (grin/groan))
