Famous Threes
There are many famous threes, or triplets. My favorite were the Del Rubio Triplets. Check out their website www.myspace.com/delrubiotriplets. Of course there are the Three Stooges, the Three Muskateers, and three blind mice. There are three strikes in baseball and three wishes. Who could forget the Three Tenors, three wise men, and My Three Sons.

I have done plenty of research. I know they will know which group they are in (ability wise). I am also planning on adding in other forms of differentiation such as differing assessments, projects, ... Separating by ability is not bad - it is when you don't allow someone to rise ABOVE (or out) of their group that it become bad.

Apropos your comments about "threes," it may be hard to find, but I have a book from my college days which talks about this. It's an anthropology anthology (that's not a typo) from 1968 called Every Man His Way, edited by Alan Dundes.

Deaths come in threes is dumb. Depending on who qualifies as a celebrities, there are 50 to 100 celebrities that die each year. So you are going to have 1 or 2 on average each week. Some weeks will ... I too believe that famous people die in threes. But so do people we know personally - family, friends and aquaintances.
