Arguments for "insure" and arguments for "ensure", please. Personally I think it should be "ensure" but I have someone who thinks they're smarter than me arguing for "insure" and I want to hear other people's opinions on this if you don't mind. ... Ensure vs guarantee...

The first two terms are similar but there are differences. Ensure means "to make certain." Insure means "to guarantee against a monetary loss.";; Assure means to state in a convincing manner. ... ; ensure vs. insure (and assure)

So I am turning to a simpler source of frustration – the incredibly widespread misuse of the word insure when people mean ensure. Yes, I know there is an assure issue, too, but the insure-when-you-mean-ensure is the one ... Not so with the ensure/insure confusion. Briefly, here are definitions of the words at issue:
