How to Tailor a Shirt
You can easily tailor a shirt to fit someone at home, with a sewing machine or by hand. It's much easier to take a shirt in then let it out, as you would only have the seam allowances to work with in the latter case. If you need to do so, use a seam ripper to take out the stitches along the sides, neck, and bottom, and resew the hems with a smaller seam allowance. To take a shirt in, start by pinning the shirt in the places it is too loose, while it's inside out, on the wearer. Make sure to include a .25 inch seam allowance. Have them carefully remove the shirt, and sew the areas you need to take in.
