Ice Wine: For real ... So, uh, I um... accidentally... uh... heh heh... this is a little embarassing... I accidentally FROZE a rosé. Badly. The cork was forced ... However, freezing a wine can do a few things to it, mainly if it was not cold stabilized before botling. So it may develop tartrate crystals or some other sediment.

In fact, I've accidentally frozen a beer to a near-solid consistency in the freezer without rupturing the seal or breaking the bottle (fortunately), ... Nice thing about freezing wine with a fairly high alcohol content is that the water tends to freeze first, allowing a person to concentrate the alcohol somewhat by straining...

Actually, the freezing point of wine depends on its percent of alcohol (and a few other minor variables). But it is typically around 15F (10 below 0C) for most table wines, ... But a more realistic concern is that freezing wine might force the cork out or even break the bottle, and that's not good news.

The Finger Lakes region of New York state in the U.S. and the Niagara region of Ontario, Canada produce excellent dry versions in the Mosel and Alsation styles in addition to consistent freezing temperature extracted juice made into "ice-wine", (aka "eiswein").
