In a self-defrosting freezer, poor cooling often results from a heavy frost build-up on the evaporator coils. You can't see these coils without removing a panel inside your freezer. But if you see any frost or ice build-up on the inside walls, ceiling, or floor of your freezer, it's a sure sign of frost build-up.

If you are getting frost build up in the freezer, mainly around the upper middle on bottom freezer fridges take note. LG is having many problems with their insulation process at the factory. I have found that the light switch is the source.

I have a frost free freezer only about 5 or 6 yrs old and lately I have been getting frost in it on the top. I thought maybe I was getting left open so I put a piece of velcro on it to ... Hope it works. You may also want to check that your seals are gripping properly or this will rapidly cause a large build-up of ice.
