A keg has a concentrically located downtube and a valve that allows beer in and gas out when filling and vice versa when beer is dispensed. Also kegs have a simple concave bottom.

Heavy loads must be repeatedly lifted to move kegs around the truck, to move kegs from the truck to ground, to move kegs from the ground to hand truck and to position kegs at the customer site. These loads can be especially heavy with a full keg of beer weighing approximately 162 pounds.

The next question then becomes... once it's kegged how do I know when I'm running low? This site provides the answer. Just weigh the keg and use this simple chart to estimate how much brew is remaining.

A solution I came up with for myself was to weigh an empty keg and another keg full. I then drew up a scale to fill in the rest. Now when I want to see how much brew is left I just pull out the bathroom scale (I gotta use it for something!), weigh the keg and look up the volume on the scale.
