This does look like an "Ex" to me and would be a logical ingredient. If logwood chips were used for this ink, then I would think rather more than 3/4 oz. would be needed for the amount of ink this makes. Potassium bichromate was also known as potash or potassium dichromate, acid or red potassium chromate.
