Peggy Gurley and her Mom bullied me into coming up with a good Mulligatawny recipe, and now I'm glad they did. Mulligatawny--literally, "Pepper Water"--is a substantial and deliciously complex meal in itself. At the same time it poses its own mystery since soup is not a significant part of traditional Indian cuisine.
