Crayfish eat snails. They eat algae. Algae is the green stuff you see on the side of a fish tank. It is a kind of plant food. Crayfish eat insect larvae. Larvae are baby insects that look like little worms. Crayfish also like to munch on worms, tadpoles and water plants.

They come out at night and I assume they must eat insects. I teased one with a blade of grass and he thought it was a tasty morsel. An interesting thing that I have found...one of the holes located in my raised bed flower garden is directly below a rose moss plant.

Bigger slower fish are easier for them to catch, but that seems cruel to me, and you run the risk of the fish trying to eat the crayfish, which some will do. Dont over feed them, some crayfish will eat until they die.
