I may take a few shots, drink a few ... The original advice of liquor before beer is usually given to people who are beginning drinkers or those who drink infrequently. A 120 pound female who drinks for the second time in her life would probably get drunk and sick if she were to drink a few beers and then do a few shots.

I've always heard: "Beer before liquor, never been sicker; Liquor before beer, you're in the clear!"; I usually don't drink beer anyway, but when I do I follow this rule, and I've only gotten sick once... ... haha i just wanted to know do u have to drink liqour before beer to not get sick??

If you mix your alcohol (beer and liquor is sickening), yea you can get really sick. I would recommend either just drinking beer or just drinking liquor. Don't mix them. ... Ok. For starters I prefer to drink beer before liquor. But for this reason only: Beer is a good starter if you plan to move on to hard liquor. You see I like to get drunk and beer can prepare you to hit the hard stuff so that it goes down more easily.

The slopes of the drunkenness vs. time graph are significantly different for beer and liquor*. When you have liquor first, you get drunk quickly, but then switching to beer slows down the process, and you have plenty of warning to stop before hitting that red line.
