Administering Subcutaneous Heparin

Administering subcutaneous heparin must be done through the stomach. Pinch the skin between your thumb and forefinger in a fatty part of the abdomen. Insert the needle at a 45 to 90 degree angle and push the heparin. Pull the needle out and then proceed to massaging the area to help with absorption into the body.
