Bright Red Blood in Bowel Movement
Normal stools do not contain blood. If you see blood you may need to contact your health professional. Bright red blood can be caused from a tear in the rectum, a small growth in or around the colon, hemorrhoids or even cancer. Any and all can cause painful bowel movements, if you were to have fever as well then you may have a more serious problem. Crohn's disease, dysentery is just a few of the other things it could be. Mild constipation coupled with dark blood suggests a neoplasm of the right colon; with bright bleeding it suggests diverticulitis or bleeding of anal-canal origin. Cramps in relation to bright red rectal bleeding are suggestive of a partial colonic obstruction and especially suggest cancer.
