Cherry angioma or hemangiomas are cherry red papules on the skin that contain a abnormal collection of blood vessels. These are the most common types of angiomas. Cherry angiomas are mostly seen in middle age men or women but are sometimes found in young people. The cause of a cherry angioma is not completely understood yet. Most doctors contribute them to genetic malfunctioning. Cherry angiomas are harmless and painful but may be removed for cosmetic reasons.
