Cause of Fingernail Vertical Ridges

A major cause of fingernail vertical ridges is a calcium deficiency. Fingernails should be nice and smooth all the way across, as well as up and down. When there is a calcium defiency, your fingernails have a peak, or several peaks in them, thus causing ridges in them. An easy remedy for the underlying medical issue is to simply take a calcium supplement. You can buff your nails smooth in the mean time, to get rid of the symptom itself.
