Cause of Thick Toenails
Thick toenails can be an unsightly and aggravating to deal with. The cause of thick toenails are usually from a fungus that has grown under the toenail and in the toenail itself. Other causes could be injury to the toenail or skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis. Eczema or psoriasis of the skin around the toenail will cause the root of the toenail to be inflamed and thus causing thick toenails. Careful filing and trimming of the toenail can aid in prevention of thick toenails.
