Character Defects
Steps 4 through 7 of the Narcotics Annonymous and Alcoholics Annonymous program deal with character defects. In step 4 we make a list of all people we had harmed. We also want to make sure we include our character defects such as self centered, bad temper, cursing, lying, cheating or stealing. In step 5 we admit to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact natures of our wrong. In step 6 we become entirely ready for God to remove these defects of character. And finally in step 7 we humbly ask God to remove our short comings or character defects.

Here's 2 columns of some of my character defects. This is the short list. In conjunction with Steps 6 & 7 of Alcoholics Anonymous, I ask God (as I understand Him) to remove these from me so that I may better do His will.

For that matter, also never mind the fact that 7 of the 12 steps — Steps Four through Ten — are designed to make you feel guilty: They are all about you listing and confessing all of your sins, character defects, moral shortcomings, the exact nature of your wrongs, and everyone you ever harmed or offended.
