Chlamydia can lay dormant for many years.Chlamydia cannot live outside of the body. If you happen to come into contact with chlamydia that does not mean that you would necessarily get it.The infection would have to come in contact with suitable body tissue such as the cervix, urethra or cornea of the eye to live.
