Cuboid Bone Pain

This is also referred to cuboid syndrome that is a subluxation or disruption of the cuboid bone that lies on the outside of the foot and would cause irritation. This condition is more prevalent in athletes cause by excessive pressure and motion that they put on their feet through. Most people complain of pain that develops rapidly or it could be gradually over a prolonged period of time. The pain is usually over the cuboid bone but it can also travel underneath the foot into the arch, and surrounding areas. It can present a more difficult time when waling and may be present wither in weight bearing and nonweight bearing. On the lateral side of the foot there will be swelling and it can also be black and blue and show signs of inflammation. Cuboid syndrome cannot be detected in an ex-ray. Treatment for cuboid syndrome would be manipulation of the bone or physical therapy.
