The human skeleton consists of 206 bones with infants having about 300 bones. The skeleton is both fused and individual bones supported by ligaments, tendons, muscles and cartilage. The six main functions so the skeletal system is to support the body, we would be a big lump or blob with bones. They provide movement by pulling on the muscles. They also provide protect of vital organs. The bones make the blood cells and they also are used for storage.
