Dog Tranquilizers

Dog tranquilizers are very useful when a dog is being shipped in a crate to take the stress out of the journey. They are also helpful when your dog has to have surgery to ease the shock and pain of surgery and speed recovery. They can also be helpful if your dog is stressful around small children or riding in a car. However, tranquilizers are not a cure all and should never be subsituted for training or to atone for a bad environment. Always consult with your vet and never give a dog a tranquilizer prescribed for human use.

Some tranquilizers can actually "enhance" the dog's personality and you can get the opposite reaction to what you're intending. This depends on the exact tranquilizer you're using and the individual dog. Some of the psychotrophic drugs can have bizarre effects on different dogs.
