Extrinsic Reward

Extrinsic reward is something you receive as appreciation for compliance with requested behavior offered by your company, your boss, or anyone wanting you to perform/behave in a particular way. This reward can be in the form of additional pay, time off, recognition, a plaque or other. Alot of companies use the extrinsic reward to motivate their employees to perform to meet higher standards or greater productivity. Rewards can also be offered for a better quality of work, better behavior on the job (i.e. attendance, following instructions, safety, etc.). There is a draw back to this type of motivation which can be short lived if the reward is removed.
