If you feel a lump in your throat, it may be nothing. To be on the safe side you should see an ENT physician. He will be the only that can examine you and give you a proper diagnosis. i always have this feeling im going to suffocate in my sleep. i have no trouble swallowing, i don't have a sore throat. the lump i feel isn't on the outside, i can feel it when i breathe in and out, it just feels like something small is there.

It is caused by the muscles in the throat contracting due to anxiety or stress. Sometimes it feels like you cannot swallow anything and trying to makes it worse. ... For the past week or so I have felt like I have a lump in my throat that comes and goes. It feels like a pill or something stuck down by my adams apple. I don't have trouble eating or swallowing food but it's kind-of hard to swallow when i'm not eating and drinking liquids almost seems to make it worse.

Question: I'm a 28 year old female (smoker) having pain in my throat for the past nine months. It feels like a lump when I yawn, not all the time, this lump feeling will pass after about 10 seconds. Most recently I've noticed a slight pain in that same region of my throat.

I have the same type of problem, and it's due to severe anxiety that causes me to feel like my throat is paralyzed or closing, but I have no problems eating or drinking. ...
