Forearm Veins

The forearm veins drain parts of hand and forearm. The veins are mostly superficial throughout their course on the forearm. They are composed of the plexuses of the basilic vein and cephalic vein. The basilic vein is a large superficial vein that originates on the medial side of the dorsal aspect of the hand then penetrates the subcutaneous fat and muscle towards its path to the arm. While the cephalic vein is located on the lateral aspect. In between the forearm and the arm, the two veins converges to form the median cubital vein which drains the muscle and subcutaneous tissues around the cubital fossa. In the axillary portion of the arm, both the basilic vein and cephalic vein merges to form the axillary vein which then drains the entire extremity.
