Horsefly bites are very painful. They cause a red lump and tend to itch a lot. Imediately after your bit, you should wash the bite with soap and warm water. After this, you should apply some ointment to the bite. A good ointment to use for this is Benadryl ointment. Once you do that, dress the bite with loose gauze.
