Infant Rashes Roseola

Roseola is a common viral illness that normally strikes children between 6 months and 3 years of age and is caused by a kind of herpes virus. It is possible for a child to have I without out any symptoms but it is rare. It usually starts out with a sudden, high fever, often above 103 degrees and can lasts three to five days followed by a rash. The rash is pink and may have small flat spots or raised bumps, but does not cause much discomfort. Some other symptoms are your child might irritable, tired, have mild diarrhea, a decreased appetite, and swollen eyelids. About 10 to 15 percent of children will have a febrile seizure with roseola. Although this is frightening children seldom have any damage related to the seizure. You should take your child to a doctor if you suspect them of having this illness.
