Insidious Onset

Insidious onset is a disease that comes on slowly, without obvious symptom at first so the person is not aware of it's development. An example would be a baby with TSD (Tay-Sachs disease) usually develops normally for the first few months. In about six to eight months an exaggerated startle reaction may first be noted and then head control is lost. The child cannot roll over or sit up. The disease progressively gets worse and the baby dies by the age of 2 or 3.
