Knee Jerk Reflex
The knee jerk reflex is performed by your doctor. This is a test which involves being tapped just below the knee causing the lower leg to extend forward. The patellar tendon is actually being tapped. It runs down from the quadriceps muscle in the front of the thigh and over the kneecap. Since the medical term for kneecap is patella, that could be where the name for the tendon came from.
