Lingual Tonsils
These are rounded tissue covering the back region of the tongue.They are dende and modular and their surface is covered with stratified squamous epithelium which invaginates as a single crypt into each lingual tonsil. They have associated mucus ducts that drains directly into the tonsil crypt.

These are called the lingual tonsils. The lingual tonsils extend to the top (dorsal) surface of the tongue further back down your throat (see diagram below). Above the soft palate, about even with the palatine and lingual tonsils lie two similar masses of tissue called the Adenoids.
