There are 206 bones in the typical adult human skeleton. In the skull, the cranial bones are the frontal bone, parietal bone (2), temporal bone (2), occipital bone, sphenoid bone, and the ethmoid bone. The facial bones consist of the zygomatic bone (2), superior and inferior maxilla, nasal bone (2), mandible, palatine bone (2), lacrimal bone (2), vomer bone, and inferior nasal conchae (2). In the middle ears, you have the malleus (2), incus (2), and stapes (2). The hyoid bone is in the throat. In the shoulder girdle there's the clavicle (2) and the scapula (2). The sternum and the ribs (2 x 12) are located in the thorax. In the vertebral column there is the cervical vertebrae (7), lumbar vertebrae (5), and the thoracic vertebrae (12). In the arms you have the humerus (2), condyles of humerus, ulna (2), radius (2), and the head of radius. In the hands there are 54 bones: Wrist (carpal) bones: scaphoid bone (2), navicular bone (2), lunate bone (2), triquetral bone (2), pisiform bone (2), Trapezium (bone) (2), trapezoid bone (2), capitate bone (2), hamate bone (2). Palm or metacarpal bones: metacarpal bones (5 x 2). Finger bones or phalanges: proximal phalanges (5 x 2), intermediate phalanges (4 x 2), and distal phalanges (5 x 2). In the pelvis: ossa coxae (hip bones or innominate bones) (2), sacrum, and coccyx. In the legs there are 8: head and shaft of femur (2) , greater trochanter of femur, condyles of femur, patella (2), shaft and tuberosity of tibia (2), and the fibula. Finally, in the feet you have the Ankle (tarsal) bones: calcaneus (heel bone) (2), talus (2), navicular bone (2), medial cuneiform bone (2), intermediate cuneiform bone (2), lateral cuneiform bone (2), cuboid bone (2), Instep bones: metatarsal bone (5 x 2), Toe bones: proximal phalanges (5 x 2), intermediate phalanges (4 x 2), and the distal phalanges (5 x 2).
