Oily Stool

Oily stool, also known as steatorrhea can be caused by several different factors. If you think you may have this, you need to go to the doctor as soon as possible. It could be a serious issue like cancer of the pancreas. In most cases, the oily stool is actually because of pancreatitis, but you can never be too sure. Your doctor will be able to run some tests and be able to give you a clear answer on what is causing it and can treat it. You can find more information at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steatorrhea about the causes of oily stool. It is not something you want to avoid getting looked at.

The therapeutic value of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) is diminished by the side-effects of diarrhoea and steatorrhoea characterized by oily stool due to malabsorption and maldigestion of fats.
