Parotid Gland

The parotid gland is the largest of the salivary glands. It is located overlaying the mandibular ramus and secretes saliva through the Stensen's Duct into the oral cavity to help with chewing and swallowing. The parotid gland is shaped like a three sided pyramid, with the apex facing downwards. The gland has four surfaces, superior,superficial, anteromedial and posteromedial, separated by three borders, anterior, posterior, and medial.
