There are many causes for swelling in the hands and fingers. If there hasn't been a physical injury to the area, you are not pregnant, and are not on any medications, that significantly thins out the possible causes. Allergies are known to cause swelling in the hands and fingers, as well as the repetitive movements used in many occupations. Carpal tunnel is one affliction causing swelling that can occur from occupational movements. Other conditions that can cause swelling in the hands and fingers are: scleroderma, hypothyroidism, and axillery vein thrombosis.
