Symptoms of herniated disc at l5 can be musle spasm, muscle weakness, pain made worse with coughing, straining or laughing. There could also be pain radiating down to the buttocks, legs and feet. Tingling and numbness in the the legs and feet can also occur. In later stages muscle atrophy can develop. Disc herniation occurs more frequently in the lumbar area and is the one of the most common causes of lower back pain.
