Twisted Intestines in Humans

Twisted intestines is just what it sounds like. The intestines, either the small or large, twist causing pain, nausea/vomiting, constipation and diarrhea and fever. The twisting cuts off the blood supply and blocks anything from moving along. Twisted intestines are very serious and require emergency surgery to fix the problem. In fact this is potentially very dangerous if the blood supply for the bowel is cut off even for a short while (due to a twist that cuts the supply to a portion of the bowel) it may cause gangrene and blood poisoning. This condition sometimes happens with the very young (human babies and animals) when they go through the trauma of birth. It usually requires medical intervention (an operation) as the condition cannot be allowed to continue even for a short time once diagnosed
